Broad spectrum antiseptics for wound healing and medical device coatings
GlutAgasept™ antiseptics are a family of novel silver-based complexes for the treatment of wound infections and for use as the active component of antimicrobial medical device coatings. GlutAgasept™ antiseptics offer excellent potency against drug-resistant pathogens, little concern of selection for resistance, lower cellular toxicity, and process benefits not found with industry accepted antiseptics. The mating of ionic silver with an antioxidant thiol compounds ameliorates the inherent silver ion toxicity without degrading efficacy. GlutAgasept™ antiseptics are color stable, readily tailorable across a range of potencies, and water and buffer soluble.
In vivo preclinical evaluations, studies have revealed that GlutAgasept™-treated polymicrobial infected wounds healed faster as compared to industry standard silver control dressings.
GlutAgasept™ antiseptics possess dramatically increased therapeutic indexes (TIs) as compared to currently accepted antiseptic agents.
